Death, imagined

Please give reprieve
from my torrent of tears
When my heart believed
You would always be near.
Pelting down on me
With lightning grief
Drowning my soul
Lost in an endless sea.
Of grief unbound
And unexpected loss
Raining down and down
With no hope of rebound.
For you have gone
And where you were
There is only doom
With no hope for dawn.
You took the sun
When you died
Leaving in your wake
Our life undone.
