Vestiges of a Life
-Linda Lee Lyberg
I dreamt a dream of yesterday
When you were not so far away
A time when you and I were one
When we could love from sun to sun
A world where only we were what mattered
But now that world, that dream has shattered
And in its place there’s loneliness
A world devoid of happiness
Once a dream and now a nightmare
Where a kiss, a hug, a smile is rare.
