Promise

My darling dear and sweetest one
Death is only a silent whisper away
And when the longest day is gone
I know you’ll want me to stay.
But I must leave to join our Lord
In the beautiful world of ever after
So with this I give you my true word
I’ll greet you with melodic laughter.
We’ll dance once again in a meadow of flowers
We’ll love from bright sun to dark moon
And as we while away those bewitching hours
We’ll rest in each other’s arms to the call of the loon.
