Salad Days

-Linda Lee Lyberg

Untamed memories
written down before
they fade away.

Follies of youth
voraciously feasted
during my
salad days.

No reflections on
death back then
bright light of hope
my best friend.

These days, the reaper
knocks with regularity
taking those I love
without disparity.
