Author’s Note: This is my response to Carpe Diem #1296 Dawn’s Left Hand
Chèvrefeuille presented to us this month The Rubaiyat, by Omar Khayyam and today’s episode is called ‘dawn’s left hand’, from the 2nd quatrain of The Rubaiyat:
Dreaming when Dawn’s Left Hand was in the Sky
I heard a Voice within the Tavern cry,
“Awake, my Little ones, and fill the Cup
Before Life’s Liquor in its Cup be dry.”
Omar Khayyam (Tr. FitzGerald)
