deep silence
the shrill of cicadas

Author’s note: Chèvrefeuille has asked we complete two Tan Rengas, where he has given us a Haiku by Basho to complete the second stanza and two lines by Chèvrefeuille where we are to complete a Haiku. A Tan Renga is a tanka-like poem created by two poets. The goal is to write the stanza towards a given haiku, to create a Tan Renga. This weekend however he has one with a twist for us too.

For the first Tan Renga he gives us the first stanza (the haiku), a haiku by Matsuo Basho:

deep silence
the shrill of cicadas
seeps into rocks

For the second Tan Renga he gives us the second stanza of two lines, to this Tan Renga we have to create the first stanza, the haiku. Here is the 2nd stanza for the second Tan Renga:

soft winter breeze cherishes
the last colorful leaves
