My spirit name is Crystal Blue
count on me to lighten your day
I am a coyote of a different color hue
I’ll teach you a lesson with my play.
Within my banter are countless wise words
and things are not always what they seem
yes, I’m a trickster, I’m sure you’ve heard
but I’m open to possibilities and dreams.
I live my life embracing life’s magic
and welcome whatever comes my way
though at times what happens is tragic
I’ll live to smile and laugh another day.

Poetics Night at D’verse The challenge is to write a poem, of any length or form, about an animal in a human way or a human in an animal way, highlighting some trait of the animal/human that either sets us apart or brings us together – it’s up to you, just as long as the poem is new.
Love it!

Love your Native American name and this:
I’m a trickster, I’m sure you’ve heard
but I’m open to possibilities and dreams.

I haven’t read anything about a coyote in years, yours is the third in response to the prompt and they are all different, Linda! I love the first person perspective and the lines:
‘I am a coyote of a different color hue’
and
‘yes, I’m a trickster, I’m sure you’ve heard
but I’m open to possibilities and dreams’.
