Why was she spared in those bewitching hours
before the dawning new day?
What did God see that made him pause
And shield her with protective grace?

He dropped a blanket o’er her eyes
so she could not understand or feel
a tormented soul had at last decided
a finality that was all too real
It wasn’t the first time she escaped death
saved only by his pure loving grace
to God she owes her every breath
and ’tis Him she will forever embrace

  1. Indeed. Grace is definitely defined in the receiving what is not merited… or not receiving, in this case. A powerful write.
