Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing

DARLING, love me forever
and I will do the same
fill our nights with passion
burning the eternal flames.
In tender years past youth
when we are old and grey
hold me near your heart
and sing my death away.
For you are my one and only
true love doth reside
within our hearts as one
until the end of time.

Jilly is hosting dVerse MTB. We are asked to respond to another poet’s poem, and mine is a response to O Do Not Love Too Long, by W.B.Yeats- Featured Below.
I am a hopeless romantic at heart and as such, I often write about love.
O DO NOT LOVE TOO LONG, by W.B Yeats
SWEETHEART, do not love too long:
I loved long and long,
And grew to be out of fashion
Like an old song.
All through the years of our youth
Neither could have known
Their own thought from the other’s,
We were so much at one.
But, O in a minute she changed–
O do not love too long,
Or you will grow out of fashion
Like an old song.
I love you 😘❤️💕

I really loved both poems. One for the loss and the other for the unfailing love! So good!!

A beautifully faithful response to a rather cynical poem…not to be too hard on Yeats, of course 😉

I most definitely prefer yours to Yeats’… for a number of reasons. Well worded, well plotted!
