Body of Soul

time-2835201_1920

Oh Lord, my soul does weep for sweet relief
from yesterday’s bitter sorrow
for I know that on the wind more will come
with dawn’s cold tomorrow.

My aged body, though battered and torn
can still stand upright on its own
but the day will come when it too will fail
and I’ll ache in every last bone.

Grant me this oh Lord, another day of youth
where young soul and old limbs are one
with will, the body’s strength must ensue
for my mind and heart is still young.
