Heart -Shaped Stone

IMG_3137
There you were, laying there
all alone on the cold blacktop road
I heard your silent cries calling to me
come here and please take me home.

As I picked you up, held you in my hand
your frigid stone surface began to warm
your contours rough, yet oddly smooth
I could feel your soul’s weathered scars.

So I tucked you away into my pocket
to keep you safe and always near me
Here you’ll be close to my beating heart
for you are a sweet gift from eternity.

Author’s Note: Today on my morning walk I found a beautiful heart-shaped stone.
