This Body

This body in deep protest
engraved with pain
remembrances of love
that fills the air
in her dark room
with no walls
to confine her agony.

She lives
alone with her mementoes
etched on her in flagrant
black and colors subdued.
In her dark moments
they overwhelm
with poignant
anguish.

She is in love
with love,
above and below
yesterday, today, and tomorrow,
But love, you see, with its profound
beautiful wisdom, and unerring lament
has betrayed her.

She waits with certainty
that somehow someday, someway
love will not forsake her.
She breathes life into her fantasy.

This is the life she has chosen.

Now start translating the poem into English, with the idea that the poem is actually “about” your photograph. Use the look and feel of the words in the original to guide you along as you write, while trying to describe your photograph.

The Poem I used was

  1. Oh this is absolutely an amazing post with an amazing image. I think it also relates to a newer Napowrimo prompt about voice. This is so powerful….almost visceral. I can feel her in this room, sitting, writ upon her body and her soul.
