Shangri-La

Come, walk with me and I’ll tell you a story
of this verdant forest dark and deep
for here is where the universe keeps
hidden her secrets from the world
where the willow dances over
the cool gurgling stream.

 
I’ll show you this beautiful sacred place
where all thoughts, here conceived
and fanciful tales told, believed
whence the after life moves
at a heavenly lumbering pace.
 
Tread light sweet darling dear
for you have nothing here to fear
no more than the ground beetles
scurrying under your bare feet for this
an illusory dream from which you’ll never
wake, if only my soft hand you’ll embrace.
 
Here amidst tall trees, come rest and sit with me
as we watch the vivid charade of mysteries unfold
reveling in seeing our desires and fantasies, while
fertile imaginations sow ideas in dampened earth
for this is Shangri-la where our dreams give birth.

  10. This reads like an old fairytale. I too love the forest dark and deep and have no fear when I walk there. The rhymes in this are lovely and move us along this path with you.
