Love’s Wall

heart-1192662_1280
Her heart once laid among the ruins of a crumbling wall
broken shards from promises made but never kept
but then he came along, and she with relief… wept

A master at rebuilding, he could mend anything
caressing her shattered parts with weathered gentle hands
he healed with the steadfast mortar of his divine love
and once more her heart beat strong and she could smile again

The new wall built together, a symbol of their life
adorned with bright flowers watered with bliss,
pink roses strewn about the dark fertile earth as

she walked the garden path to become his loving wife

  1. The resilience of the human spirit and the power of love–what a magnificent message. We all face tragedies in our life, and only rebuilding pushes us into a real future.

  2. A lovely metaphor of a wall, Linda. Walls and broken hearts are difficult to repair and take time and care, as in the lines:
‘caressing her shattered parts with weathered gentle hands
he healed with the steadfast mortar of his divine love’.
I love the ending, with roses climbing the wall.

  3. This was a wonderful poem on hope and rebuilding!!! Like bones we are stronger at our breaks and better off. It is hard to see at the time but in looking back we can understand how much better off we are than we once were!! You captured that revelation in such a beautiful way! This was a truly delightful read, Linda!!
