Swoon for the Moon

If I could I would paint the gleaming sky with your lovely eyes
so everyone would know how precious is your soul
And I would sing like a bird professing my devotion a haunting melody meant for only you and me
If only… I could lasso the silvery moon and
wrap it in spun gold stars, oh how you would swoon
But instead my darling, I’ll write this simple lilting poem
leaving you with my words of love long after I am gone
