Hopeful

2020 begins with an air of uncertainty. Since mid- September, various health issues have plagued me. In December the alarm sounded, and I could not ignore it any longer.
Now with this new year, I begin with a round of testing to see exactly what is going on with this heart of mine. It has withstood many heartbreaks over the years and still, it keeps beating.
And yet I ponder, do emotional heartbreaks scar the heart to the point that one day it says- Enough? I remain hopeful that is not the case for I do not believe it is my time yet.
But this much I do know, here, today- I choose to be brave, I choose to stand tall, I will not give in. Instead, I will smell the fragrant roses, I will kiss the sky good morning, and I will cherish every golden moment.

  1. Oh Linda, that’s the best attitude! Stay hopeful in times of uncertainty, and please know that we’re thinking of you. I hope the tests go well and that something can be done. Kiss the sky good morning from me, please.

  2. Good on you for listening to your own body, and for mustering the courage to se3arch for the truth; camping out by the river d’Nile is a poor choice.

  4. Linda, your poem speaks to me, as heart is what will take me,too, when the time comes. I hope tests show you are okay for some time to come for, yes, we still love our lives, we still kiss the sky with gratitude that we are here.

  5. As I get older these things mean more to me. I wish I could have enjoyed them more in my youth but we know everything and nothing when we are young. Blessings on you as you face the future with gratitude and hope.

Instead, I will smell the fragrant roses, I will kiss the sky good morning, and I will cherish every golden moment.” These words are a masterpiece in and of themselves, My Dear! 8. Linda…first apologies for being late to the reading. We are now in San Diego for two months — flew here yesterday from Boston. So Monday I got posted and then totally involved in packing etc.

The last line of your haiku is beautifully said and on target. Winter…symbolic of our ageing….but dawn comes each day and we “expect the best” — that is the attitude you are showing here and I know attitude is so very important when facing health issues. Also what I just wrote….”expect the best” — rather than ruminating on what could be. Live in the moment and that is exactly what you’re saying here. Thinking of you….and expecting the best! 🙂
