Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
And jack boot rain bore down in brutal disgrace
And the people cried out in anguish for justice, for release
And the demons of grief filled the once empty streets
As frustration stormed and raged in the face of bitter hate
It’s been a long time comin’ Lord, and there is no end in sight
For we are in our darkest hours fighting this desperate fight
Without a strong leader to guide us to the healing light
Only love for one another will save us from our doomed plight

A dark stormy time indeed, Linda. This is another poem with music in its soul.

All I can say is Amen! We are in dark dark times with no leadership at the helm….and even worse, the person at the helm is, in my opinion, dangerous and adding to the havoc and chaos and division.

“Only love for one another will save us from our doomed plight” I think it doesn’t really have a lot to do with government or leadership.. this is a long time coming and it won’t be over till the multitude of people have had a belly full and change… the laws, the attitudes, and demand dignity for all.
May your message of “only love” ring loud.

Such a sad but true write! Yes, Lord, may love overcome the land, and hate be no more. We can each do our part.

What an image, Linda, jack boot rain! Your poem overflows with pathetic fallacy. bore down in brutal disgrace. The end rhyme of the final four lines is powerful.
