Goodbye Sweet Soul

Ricky Bobby Lyberg: Late 2005- January 24, 2021

“If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.”

― Will Rogers

No clicking of tiny paws across tiled floor
No happy licks greeting us upon our return
For his darling soul has grown wings, taken flight
Our sweet Ricky Bobby is now forever gone

He banished sadness on even darkest days
And filled our hearts with his playful presence
Sharing in his joy as he chased noisy crows
But now he’s taken wing and flown from our sight

He was always there to comfort us day and night
With his happy face smile shining ever so bright
But now he’s gone and left us here all alone
For his loving soul has forever taken flight

This house was once warm with his vibrant presence,
But today it is lonely, cavernous, and cold
This house and our hearts hold his spirit forever
For our dear darling Bubba is now gone

On these torturous days of endless tears and grief
We’ll laugh and we’ll cry and remember when
A scared little dog from Texas arrived
On a big jet airplane one joyous spring,
He gave us happiness and love so sweet
and made our two hearts his eternal home.

Author’s Note: We said good bye to Ricky Bobby (aka Bubba) this morning in our home. His passing was peaceful and without pain. Many thanks to Angel Vet who made this difficult time more bearable. And though our hearts are broken, they are bursting with love for him, and his for us. We love you for eternity.

  5. Linda I am so sorry for your loss. We all love our fur babies! I wrote this poem years ago and thought it might bring you some comfort.

    Love, Rover

Dear family, I write to you from afar
But know that I’m with you wherever you are

I hated to leave you but now I am young
Again and forever, I frolic and run

It is a secret most people don’t know
But where we all are is the place people go

There are birds and cats, rabbits and dogs
But up here in Heaven we all get along

We’re happy and waiting to all be together
I can’t wait to see you and play fetch forever

I know that you’re sad but my life is not over
I’m waiting to see you again.
    Love, Rover
