Dewdrops on Morning Grass

Image by Christian Wöhrl from Pixabay

From high in lush greening mesquite
desert thrasher sings a sweet refrain
to a honeydew ripened rising sun
as it paints the morning desert

His lonely unearthly melody
of nostalgic blues makes me wonder
how disparate my life may be
had I chosen another pathway

But soon this misty thought dissipates
like sparkling dewdrops on morning grass
for what good use is always looking back
when our past is past, over and done

So today I will accept my destined fate
the wise gods have bestowed upon me
I’ll drink of sweet blood-dark orchid wine
savoring each luscious sip, grateful

  1. My favourite lines:

I’ll drink of sweet blood-dark orchid wine
    savoring each luscious sip, grateful

A powerful ending, both in images and in message.
