Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
“Nobody’s perfect. We’re all just one step up from the beasts and one step down from the angels.”
― Jeannette Walls, Half Broke Horses
We sit under a tarnished copper sun
tethered to stones of transgressions
for the sins of our ancestors are scars we bear
with every sunrise, with every day done
What brought us to this hopeless abyss
where malaise overwhelms the broken, the weak
and ominous clouds hide the luminous light we seek?
There is no haven in the shadows of our souls
for we are lower than angels so they wait with love
until we lift our empty eyes to the turquoise sky
and pray for forgiveness for all we have done

These lines ring deeply to me of truths some don’t want to see. A wise and lovely poem Linda! I am delighted you joined in at the Muse this week!

There is no way we can reason the truth of this away. It’s in our bones. Deep writing, Linda. Also glad to see you at TSM 🙂

Those heavy stones of transgressions hold us down when our hearts long to soar.

Yes. When I watch the news, I think there is not enough forgiveness in the heavens for what a mess we have made down here. However, individual hearts like yours help weigh the scales, hopefully.

Oh we are heavy at times with those sins of ancestors we bear and haunted by our own transgressions. Beautiful writing

I wonder if we can ever truly be forgiven for those ‘tethered transgressions’.
