“What are you doing to me?” he asked the crow, tearful. Teaching you how to fly. “I can’t fly!” You’re flying right now. “I’m falling!” Every flight begins with a fall, the crow said.”

Black Feathered Sky

“Love! Love until the night collapses!”
― Pablo Neruda, Machu Picchu

Full moon becomes an eternity in a black velvet feathered sky
Mirrored in your eyes

A million brilliant stars pale, white jasmine sweetens fragrant air
Blooming in your hair

Upon your honeyed lips, my yearning ache to dwell
Caught up in your spell

Riding high on an undulating groundswell
The earth moves below our thrashing hips
High in the sky the pearl moon collapses, a startling eclipse
Mirrored in your eyes, blooming in your hair, caught up in your spell

Author’s Note: This is an Oviellejo, which is an Old Spanish verse form (derived from ovillo, a ball of yarn). A stanza consists of 10 lines, with a rhyme scheme of AABBCCCDDC. The second line of each rhyme scheme, Line 2,4,6, is short line of up to 5 syllables. The Healing Map

“It is often in the darkest skies that we see the brightest stars.”

― Richard Evans

Tiny dots
marking my pale skin
pointing to
the right place
bright constellation of hope
a path to healing

Shining through
like stars on water
when it rains
glistening
in the longest blackest night
before gilded dawn

As Daylight Wanes

Let’s go to the garden my love
and stroll among fragrant flowers
Let’s waste away remaining hours
serenaded by mourning doves
on high amidst green leaves above

Come sit with me, linger awhile
as daylight wanes on sun’s dial
I want to gaze upon your face
lost in our passionate embrace
basking in your glorious smile

Shadows on Garden Walls

My Garden- Mesa, AZ

“Outside the open window

The morning air is all awash with angels.”

― Richard Wilbur, Collected Poems, 1943-2004

Dawn’s glimmer casts dancing shadows on garden walls
rousing song birds from peaceful night’s slumber
taking abrupt wing, they sing to rays of golden light
welcoming a hopeful morn, as minutes start anew
with each rising of healing sun another day begun

Morning zephyr caresses my cheek as I stroll
through my untamed garden searching for peace
praying to divinity to heal this diseased soul
I breathe fresh elixir of nature, oh sweet relief
and find the courage to continue on dwelling within
