No longer can I travel through
Boundless time and infinite space
To gaze upon your handsome face
So I have imagined and created
A fiery orange planet in your image
Orbiting in an impetuous sky
When my aloneness becomes unbearable
And I long for your comforting embrace
I gaze up high with star-drenched eyes
And basking in your luminous face,
I remember

“And the truth shall come from a child’s lips who has drunk from the elixir of time past and present.” – Linda Lee Lyberg
She, a pale child born suckling on wisdom’s tooth
Though her form is frail, she has all knowledge
Of the universe within each delicate finger
Caressing the wings of gentle butterflies
Delighting in the scent of lavender
As a golden crown of pollen adorns her head
Honeybees gather round, lulled
By the brightness of her musical laughter
Pausing midair to understand, to listen
To the calming nature of her ancient words

Emerging from cocoons changed with wings unfurled
A new appreciation for this precious life
As we embrace the freedom our wings
Have given us to explore the world
From a different perspective
With reflection on
Gratefulness
Forgiveness
Kindness to others
Less greedy, less selfish, or hateful
Spreading the goodness of love to neighbors
Embracing as opposed to fearing our differences

Imaginary Garden with Real Toads: Day 9 Words Count with Mama Zen

In the early days we heard the static
Like an annoying fly buzzing round our heads
News of a deadly virus running rampant
On a continent halfway around the world
Nonchalant we thought it’s not here, not among us but
One day we awoke and the world had grown smaller, changed
Though birds still flew in the crystal blue sky
Nothing would ever be or feel the same again
With this smallness, our hidden flaws became clear
Showing our beautiful best and our bitter worst
The whole world now crying rivers of blinding tears
As we come to understand what we have done
Seeing our failings in the stark light of day
And now in grief we stumble like zombies alone
No physical contact with another human
Seldom wandering far from our home

Oh, my love to have you
As close as this beaded bracelet
Wrapped around my delicate wrist
So each time I dream of you
I caress smooth rounded stones
Of your gentle soul, and hold
You safe to my breast where you rest
Forevermore

Though others may think I’m antisocial
Because I enjoy being alone
Spending long days writing until my fingers ache
Searching for answers to questions
Others never think to ask
While dead heading a fading rose in the garden
And watching lizards play among the stones
You and you alone know the depth of my soul
And you alone, know always
The words are what make me whole
