‘Tis Better?

They say ’tis better to have
Loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.
But I however must
Question the cost
Of a heart
That is stripped raw.
A heart stripped bare
Of all its love
A heart that can
No longer feel.
A heart that once
Fit like a glove
In your palm
Is now
Under your heel.
Left there to rot
And fade away
Soon to nothing
But dust.
Left there to ache
As I watch you play
Your innocent
Games of lust.
