A Call For Peace

True peace is not merely the absence of tension: it is the presence of  justice.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

‘Tis true, that which binds us also served as a hangman’s rope in the darkest of days
If man in his quest to survive understands the notion of
everlasting peace and that it is the noblest of goals;

Then peace should not be merely a concept, but a reality where
all fellow human beings live in harmony
with the absence of tension:

It is, in the finest of hours, voices from all walks of life lifting in unison with profound love for their fellow-man

As they shout from the highest mountains for the presence of justice
then, and only then will we be honest, forthright, and real.

This was written for dVerse Poets Pub where we are being inspired by our favorite quotes in the spirit of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The quote I chose is from Marin Luther King, Jr. It is in bold and italics within my poem.
