Stirrings

What is this urgent stirring in my soul?
Is it the wind carrying me to another world?
Or am I riding atop a magical winged beast
who’s taking me to his cairn to be his feast?
What is this yearning in my lonely heart?
Is it the rooster’s cry at sun breaks start?
Or am I flying high in the summer sky
with the wings of a magnificent butterfly?
What is this emotion we call desire?
Is it the sun flaming hot with fire?
Or am I floating in a warm azure lake
where I will give up and drown in its wake?
