The Break

My last words, whispered with bated breath
before you turned and left
leaving me alone and broken
like a fallen egg from a robin’s nest.
No goodbyes, only brief words hurled
as you disappeared
per chance we’ll meet again my love
I like the descriptiveness of this line: “like a fallen egg from a robin’s nest”

There’s hope in the end, a big chance, maybe if. The doors are not closed.

How sad and regretful… leaving you a shell of your former self? 🙂 Well done!

The last line leaves me wondering what would happen at your next encounter. I like the mystery of it

Sad parting as you feel yourself falling your shell cracking as you hit the sidewalk! Very Vivid!

So very sad. The birds do not always survive once the egg falls from the nest.

Lost love encapsulated in in that wonderfully expressive simile ‘like a fallen egg from a robin’s nest’. I could almost hear the shell of your heart break. Lovely, Linda!

“My last words, whispered with bated breath” – so much in these words. We do try (sometimes) one last time knowing it is not going to make any difference.
And, the closing lines gives so much hope.

Or perhaps one would not want to meet again….with all those hurled words.
