dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille: Shall we gather?
Lillian is our host this Monday and she’s been thinking about the word ‘gather’. Seems like a good time to GATHER YOUR THOUGHTS AND CREATIVE JUICES and write a quadrille that includes the word “gather” or a form of the word. REMEMBER: the quadrille is a poem of exactly 44 words, not including the title. The word “gather” or a form of the word must be included in the body of the poem.

Perfect. Sometimes we need someone to gather up our pieces. Unfortunately, they put me back together and left out some of the pieces.

Thank you Drew. We all have our imperfections, though yes?

“life was once tragic” — to me that says she has moved on…imperfections within her, as they are for all of us. Love that idea of “gathering of broken things” and that includes her. Sometimes it is in the putting together, even if not perfectly, even if not wholly, that gluing back together – there we can find peace.
Love this post. So glad you replied to the prompt.

Often the gathering of our broken selves summons the strength to find brighter days. Loved your poem.

Well done. Multiple meanings, multiple readings — as attested by the responses.

Somehow we find a way to fit the pieces back together even with the gaps and overlaps. We can become whole again but not always the same. I especially like..
“crumbling flowers from her hair,
tainted silhouettes,
tarnished promises.”
All of these are still beautiful.
