Casting Magic

Heart tossed aside like yesterday’s brilliant
wilting rose, thrown away among the
rocks left there wilting away,  for
love comes then flees as velvet
petals dry and turn to
golden crinkled dust
wafting away
in howling

will it
take to bring
her heart back to
life? Per chance a real
kiss placed on tender lips
casting potent magic spells
to soothe her hardened brittle soul,
make her whole, open to love once more
searching his eyes, her dead heart beats again.
