Dance of Forgiveness

This coldness between a woman and man
when one heart carries the guilt of a deed
and the other recalls where it began
so both are heartbroken and left to bleed
while each in silence weep alone and grieve.

When does the dance of forgiveness begin
for neither are without some mortal sins
Is it trembling yearning to kiss sweet lips
and the craving to feel skin upon skin
Then love overcomes and anger’s eclipsed.

  1. Your last line is killer; terrific dizain. Some couples are slow to forgive and love unravels.

  2. Relationships are indeed like dancing .. as both men and women experience myriad emotions .. sometimes it’s “each in silence,” and sometimes “the craving to feel skin upon skin.” This is exquisitely drawn, Linda! ❤️❤️

  3. I love the way your dance of forgiveness heats slowly and steadily, Linda, from the coldness of the first line to:
‘…trembling yearning to kiss sweet lips
and the craving to feel skin upon skin’.

  6. There is an infinity in the act of forgiveness, a strength of being that transcends mere acquiescence, the question is always, where does it begin? Beautiful dizain.

  7. This is stunning! I loved the first three lines …

‘This coldness between a woman and man
when one heart carries the guilt of a deed
and the other recalls where it began’

    So true 💕

  8. I like the emotionalism of this. Yes, forgiveness is powerful, and can be so necessary – when, as you convey here, the transgression is unusual and the love real. I think your last line would read better, grammatically, if you made it “anger’s eclipsed”. Not that poetry always has to be strictly grammatical – often it’s better if not – but in this case I think that small change would have it flow better.

  9. Interesting form to your dance of love – the slant rhymes increase the tension, the feeling of inadequacy, the sense of being out of balance, ergo out of love and passion slides underneath without the fire that melds and burns. Thought-provoking poem.

  10. Ah … you’ve asked an important question here….when does the dance of forgiveness begin? So easy to break a trust…..so difficult to travel the long journey to rebuild.
