Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
“These violent delights have violent ends And in their triump die, like fire and powder Which, as they kiss, consume” ― William Shakespeare,Romeo and Juliet
Living as if there were no tomorrow
Feasting on the fatted lamb
Supping wine from a crystal cup,
Selling our souls like Judas
For thirty pieces of silver
What fate have we brought to man
As we raped the earth of its riches
Did we not see the consequences
For we created a potent elixir
With every ancient tree felled
Every magnificent ocean tainted
Every creature that has perished forever
Until Mother Earth said, ENOUGH.

The truth is somewhat like an elixir I guess, which proves to be an eyeopener for men who have sold their souls like Judas .. sigh .. this is an incredibly deep and potent write, Linda! 💝💝

Excellent! Could have been an Earth Day poem 🙂 Good use of the bard’s quotation as a motivator.

You’ve summed up the human condition and Earth’s situation in this poem, Linda, with powerful words, such as ‘raped the earth of its riches’. No wonder ‘Mother Earth said, ENOUGH.’
