#Tanka: Oak Tree

footprints of time age
my ancient wrinkled body-
under the oak tree
acorns fall into dead leaves
come spring, bursting forth with life

  1. This is really in keeping with the Japanese tradition as far as I understand it: using imagery from nature as a metaphor for death and, in this case, rebirth – great take on the prompt!
