Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
“She’s mad, but she’s magic. There’s no lie in her fire.”
― Charles Bukowski
Among the silk grey ashes
a blackened locket lies
filled with eternal promises
of a full and loving life
But when the Santa Anas
lit up the fiery western sky,
all that was left of them
was a heart and chain of
smoldering good-byes

Linda,
Poignant imagery of love, loss, destruction. Noticed we were both determined to yoke “ash” and “silk” together for this prompt.

I love thesilken texture of the ash – it is so smooth when you run it through the fingers – and the passion that remains.

You told a beautiful and tragic tale in just 44 words. I also love the Buk quote. The guy is a genius! He’s like a rough piece of coal in the gutter but oh boy does he burn bright.

Linda, on second thought, I think Buk is describing himself in that quote. He burns true.

So much life is left in that locket. In the end, we are all just ash.
