Gone

“She’s mad, but she’s magic. There’s no lie in her fire.”

― Charles Bukowski

Among the silk grey ashes
a blackened locket lies
filled with eternal promises
of a full and loving life

But when the Santa Anas
lit up the fiery western sky,
all that was left of them
was a heart and chain of
smoldering good-byes

  1. Linda,
Poignant imagery of love, loss, destruction. Noticed we were both determined to yoke “ash” and “silk” together for this prompt.

  2. You told a beautiful and tragic tale in just 44 words. I also love the Buk quote. The guy is a genius! He’s like a rough piece of coal in the gutter but oh boy does he burn bright.
