“A deep woman is a universe to explore, she is very challenging; but she is life.”
― Lebo Grand
My scorching soul like the sun set aflame
when roving hands echoing hot desires
playing music on sweet skin without shame
feeding our hunger, stoking inner fires
until flames consume us, burning brighter.
Passion is greedy, always wanting more
with flesh quivering as never before
we melt, coming together in white heat
two hearts screaming with a tremendous roar
when we’re tangled and trapped in damp bed sheets.

“Geologists have a saying – rocks remember.” -Neil Armstrong
What does this rock dream while it sleeps in the sun?
Does it recall wooly mammoths that once trod this land
can the rock remember its birth and how it came to be
Was it once in a green flowing river that honed with gritty sand,
then etched and shaped it into a heart of weathered grey stone
Is this rock’s only destiny to never beat or understand
what loving someone with all your heart means
yet it can remember the beginning of you and me?

Author’s Note: I enjoy collecting rocks, stones, crystals and minerals. I found this one on a walk last year and first wrote about it here: Heart-Shaped Stone

Heat lightning in black chalkboard sky
the dusty air thick, skeleton bone dry
collapse of thunderstorm approaching, comes
haboob, a wall of dust encroaching while
spectral saguaros beg the gray lead clouds
to lighten their burdensome load
as the arid desert cries for relief from searing heat
in the form of cool down pouring rain

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai: #1712 Twilight

Hands freckled from brilliant sun,
a whole lifetime spent being a mom
wiping tears from dirty cheeks,
soothing bleeding scraped knees.
These hands, now wrinkled with age
still toiling in the garden
writing and composing
a rich life ’til another turn of the page
