Beyond the darkened door, my heart waits for me
in the fragrant garden, watching butterflies floating free
Early morning mist hangs heavy, resisting the apricot dawn
as I walk the time worn path through the verdant lawn
Birds are singing in soft swaying trees, sweetest of melodies
Tranquility and peace reign here, creating forever memories
And these are all the worldly riches and precious treasures
I will ever need, savoring and enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

Sue Vincent’s Daily Echo Thursday Photo Prompt: Transition

Have you seen the shimmering rain in moonlight
how it trembles with pain in dazzling moonlight?
Bright stars still shine high in the blue-black sky
despite the brilliant reign of swollen moon’s light
In this fragrant field tonight I want to see
desire in your eyes, hot flames in cold moonlight
Then through the drizzling rain, your deep voice whispers
a plea, ‘Come to me again in our moon’s light’
Following my heart to the place I call home
I see you, my swain in silvery moonlight
I am Linda, ardent lover forever
I kiss your lips, go insane in stark moonlight

Beneath the blanket of blue moonlight
beautiful mountains murmur
an ancient soulful song
from deep within rock grey stone
as verdant trees dance and sway
creating sacred poetry rustling
in the last sweet summer rain.

The tornado fell from the graphite sky
fueled by storm clouds and winds on high
that fed its hungry fury and filled the dearth
a powerful force as her tumid belly gave birth
to more twisters to dance with destructive mirth.
As they bored over the ground, leaving it defaced
with naught but a foggy field of grey-green laid in waste.

Author’s Note: Below are my Whirling Butterflies (Gaura) in my garden!

Though some enjoy the crush
of chasing fortune and fame
or craving glittering diamonds
and playing a gambling game,
But as for me beloved friends
my greatest acclaim awaits
down the worn flagstone path
because all my cherished riches
begin at my garden gates.
