Counting the days we’ve loved is like counting grains of sand
For my darling I dare not know where one ends and the other begins

Where does the rainbow end,
in your soul or on the horizon?”
― Pablo Neruda, The Book of Questions
The colors of her changeable soul spill into the world
Wherever she wanders and roams with wings unfurled
Like satin ribbons streaming in cool zephyr’s arms,
Far and wide spreading her loving radiant charms
Painting this gorgeous earth in vibrant colored hues
Of rosy-red, emerald, daffodil, and indigo blue
Wearing them with pride in a vibrant long dress
A sweet opal child her heart in essence, blessed
As brilliant arced rainbows dance in her long hair
She shares gifts of peace, hope, and love everywhere

Ridin’ low under a starry, starry sky
Where a yellow crescent moon hangs low
Vincent, Dali, and Frida out for an evening drive
With no particular place to go.
While Frida smokes wearin’ red cowboy boots,
The boy-men discuss all aspects of life
Dali says ‘I’ve lived before, a reincarnation of my older brother,
and sometimes I dream Hitler is a woman and ravishes me.’
Vincent says, ‘ That’s nothing, my old friend-
Would you cut off an ear to make a valid point
To that pompous bastard Gauguin?’
Whereupon, Frida spoke in a loud raspy voice
‘No, but if Diego whores around one more damn time
He will leave me with no other reasonable choice-
I’ll cut off his limp dick and feed it to my dogs
And let my darling monkeys play with his balls.’
No one spoke the rest of the trip.

“Listen! The wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!”
― Humbert Wolfe
Autumn’s color now magnified by the melodic hum
of nesting birds and honeybees preparing their winter homes.
And when exquisite graceful leaves fall and come drifting down
painting a canvas of brilliant hues upon the cooling ground,
The beetles and slithering worms get busy, doing their life’s work
Breaking down the rotting leaves, returning them to Mother Earth
as we watch in awe the miraculous circle of life, death, and rebirth.

As light spills upon white paper
We contemplate life’s fickle fate
Caught up in this capricious state
Pawns in play for our creator.
Though there’s no point to belabor
What riddled perils day may bring
To our past we should never cling
For mystery awaits in haste
With few precious moments to waste
So welcome whatever it brings.
