the first day begins

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai: Tan Renga Wednesday New Year’s Morning

Salt,II

I am the restless ocean, you a tempest storm
churning our waters into whirlpools of passion
we plunge into murky depths of desire
where we linger and willingly surrender
to that which the fates have conspired.

The ocean, the storm, water with no form,
tasting salty sweat on glistening skin
we swirl into a luscious spin
spellbound in this maelstrom of each other.

Amid surging swells, now immersed
in this passionate play so well rehearsed.

In the aftermath of our amorous reign
all that remains is the dull ache of pain
and the memory of something forever lost.

For what is love, if not a permanent drowning
a dousing of the blue flame of being alone?

As we rise from the turbulent waters,
Me, a pillar of crumbling white salt
You, a crushing stone shattering
my soul into sparkling dust
as we merge together into one.

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai: #1793 New Beginnings First Day of Spring

Hopeful

2020 begins with an air of uncertainty. Since mid- September, various health issues have plagued me. In December the alarm sounded, and I could not ignore it any longer.
Now with this new year, I begin with a round of testing to see exactly what is going on with this heart of mine. It has withstood many heartbreaks over the years and still, it keeps beating.
And yet I ponder, do emotional heartbreaks scar the heart to the point that one day it says- Enough? I remain hopeful that is not the case for I do not believe it is my time yet.
But this much I do know, here, today- I choose to be brave, I choose to stand tall, I will not give in. Instead, I will smell the fragrant roses, I will kiss the sky good morning, and I will cherish every golden moment.

winter morning dawns
brilliant sun warming my face
sanguine for new year

Lavender Twilight Descends

Another day ends as lavender twilight descends
A gentle breeze whispers with mockingbird’s trills
As the vibrant tangerine sun sinks and transcends
The brisk evening air tumbles, bringing cold chills

A gentle breeze whispers with mockingbird’s trills
Singing with his broken heart of melancholic love
The brisk evening air tumbles, bringing cold chills
As his voice carries through green boughs above

Singing with his broken heart of melancholic love
I’ve lived the agony of heartache he’s been through
As his voice carries through green boughs above
Crooning his sorrow in hues of dark indigo blue

I’ve lived the agony of heartache he’s been through
When vibrant tangerine sun sinks and transcends
He croons his sorrow in hues of dark indigo blue
Another day ends as lavender twilight descends.
