Garden Grace

In this humble garden, grace lives here in the sweet scented roses
with them swaying in the breeze, as trees shed their gentle clothes

And here resides an ancient herb, marjoram many years old
its taste is everlasting, spicy and earthy but seldom bold

This lemon tree was once adorned with lights one Christmas
as we rebelled against tradition, and wished it Merry wishes

The lavender stalks reach for blue sky, caring not if they encroach
upon another shyer plant who shrinks with its approach

In this garden grace lives here, and so does my heart
for I see my mother waving in every tender stalk.
