We, The Dreamers

Dance Around the Golden Calf, by Emil Nolde
Source: WikiArt

Let the flyleaf of April reflect
without another backward glance
masala mysteries hidden
in every ardent word written

Traversing obscure burly wood bridges
under clear lapis lazuli skies while
We, the dreamers romance the restless words
with hot pink beauty or dark orchid grief

Our hearts emblazoned on parchment
our souls sometimes lost in be-wilderness
we’ve laughed, we’ve cried,
we’ve read, we’ve shouted
Our cornsilk voices never quavering
in the face of our whispered truth
