Roads

Living in the shadows of your life
Searching for paths into your heart
Looking for answers all in strife
A journey so hard unsure where to start.

First one road then another
It seems I’ve tried them all
At times, one will lead me farther
But then I stumble and fall.

Frayed, tender and bruised
I rise from the dark road
With pain now infused
Into my disheartened soul.

Wise as I am
I still try another
Hoping against hope
This one will get me farther
than before…
